A Tidio alternative from Germany: Kyros and Tidio compared
Tidio has a German interface, but according to Tidio its support runs mainly in English. Here is how Tidio, a customer service suite, and Kyros, an AI assistant built on your own pages, differ. Sources included, as of October 1, 2026.
Yes, you can use Tidio in German, with one caveat about support. According to Tidio’s help center, the admin panel can be set to English, German, French, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese. The chat widget has a ready-made German language pack, and the Lyro AI agent answers in German; you can steer formal versus informal German through “Lyro Guidance.” Tidio also runs a German website. English, however, remains Tidio’s primary communication language, so the support chat, help center and blog may stay in English.
What Tidio is
Tidio is a customer service platform: live chat, ticketing with a connected email inbox, Facebook Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp, rule-based “Flows,” and the Lyro AI agent, which is priced as a volume-based add-on. Lyro answers from web pages, Q&A pairs, imported CSV or PDF files, knowledge collected from solved chats, and product data from Shopify or WooCommerce. In most cases it adds links to its sources below the answer. The contracting entity is Tidio LLC, based in San Francisco.
How Kyros differs
Kyros is not a helpdesk. It is a platform for AI assistants that answer as a chat widget on your website or through a REST API. There is no live chat and no handoff to staff. The assistant answers from the pages whose URLs you list and from Golden answers you write yourself; you can’t upload files. When an answer draws on your pages, numbered “Further Links” appear below it. You make changes in a draft and take them live with Publish. Kyros is made by omniratio, a company based in Germany.
Tidio and GDPR: where data is processed
Tidio’s data processing agreement says it processes data “primarily within the EEA.” Its privacy policy says some data may be transferred to and processed in the United States; Tidio LLC participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and also uses standard contractual clauses. Kyros is hosted in Germany, with its API and database in Frankfurt, and offers a DPA under Art. 28 GDPR. In addition, the provider of the AI model you choose processes each message, not always in Germany. Whether either tool fits your use case is for your data protection officer to assess.
What Kyros brings
Kyros features that matter when you compare it with Tidio.
Answers from pages you choose
You paste the URLs of the pages the assistant should know, one per line, and write Golden answers for questions where the exact wording matters. Pages can re-sync every 6, 12 or 24 hours or weekly.
Draft and version history
Changes to the assistant’s settings go live only when you click “Publish.” Version history keeps up to 200 versions, so you can compare them and restore an earlier one.
9 widget languages plus Easy language
German, English, Ukrainian, Arabic, Turkish, Russian, Polish, French and Farsi, with Arabic and Farsi right to left. In Easy language (Leichte Sprache), the assistant is instructed to use short sentences; this does not replace checked texts.
AI notice and privacy in the widget
Every widget permanently notes that answers are AI-generated and may be inaccurate. Privacy opens “Using our chatbot,” covering data, purpose, legal basis and retention.
Moderation before the model
Incoming messages are checked before the model sees them. Moderation is on for every new assistant, and withheld messages never reach the model.
Hosted in Germany
The API and database run in Frankfurt, and a DPA under Art. 28 GDPR is available. The provider of the AI model you choose also processes each message, not always in Germany.

When Tidio is the better choice
- Your team wants to chat with visitors live and handle tickets and email in the same tool.
- You want to answer WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger messages in one place.
- Your store runs on Shopify or WooCommerce, and the AI agent should pull in product data from it.
- You want rule-based automation (Flows) alongside the AI agent.
- The AI agent should also use PDF or CSV files and knowledge from solved chats.
When Kyros is the better fit
- You don’t need live chat, but an AI assistant that answers only from the pages you choose, plus Golden answers.
- You test changes to the assistant’s settings in a draft, take them live with Publish, and restore earlier versions from the version history.
- The widget should also appear fully translated in Ukrainian, Arabic, Turkish, Polish or Farsi, or you want to offer Easy language (Leichte Sprache).
- Your privacy review favors a provider based in Germany that hosts in Germany.
- Moderation checks incoming messages before the model sees them (on for every new assistant), and every widget notes that answers are AI-generated.
Instead of live chat: a callback request via Card (Beta)
Kyros doesn’t hand conversations over to staff. Instead, an Interactive Card (Beta) can show a form in the chat, for example a callback request with name, phone number and topic. Submissions are stored per Card and can be exported as CSV; with an action, the Card can also send them to your API.
Tidio and Kyros FAQ
Is Tidio available in German?
Largely, yes. According to Tidio, the admin panel can be switched to German, alongside English, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. The chat widget has a ready-made German language pack, the Lyro AI agent answers in German, formal or informal as you prefer, and there is a German website. But Tidio says English remains its primary communication language, so the support chat, help center and blog may be in English. As of October 1, 2026.
Is Tidio GDPR-compliant?
Your data protection officer has to assess that for your use case, for Tidio as for Kyros. The facts: according to its DPA, Tidio LLC (USA) processes data primarily within the EEA, and Tidio bases transfers to the US on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. Kyros is hosted in Germany and offers a DPA under Art. 28 GDPR; the provider of the AI model you choose also processes each message, not always in Germany. As of October 1, 2026.
How much does Tidio cost?
According to tidio.com/pricing (as of October 1, 2026, billed annually, in USD): Free $0, Starter $24.17/month ($290/year), Growth from $49.17/month. Plus starts at $300/month plus usage, and Premium is on request. The Lyro AI agent is an add-on from $32.50/month for 50 conversations. Plans are priced by conversations in which a human replies. Depending on your location, Tidio may show other currencies.
Can Kyros do live chat?
No. Kyros has no live chat and doesn’t hand conversations over to staff. The assistant answers from your pages and Golden answers; if they don’t contain an answer, it is instructed to say so. Instead, an Interactive Card (Beta) can, for example, collect a callback request in the chat; submissions are stored per Card and can be exported as CSV. If your team wants to chat with visitors live, Tidio is the better fit.
Is Kyros a Tidio alternative?
For the AI part, yes; for the rest, no. Kyros can take the role of an AI agent like Lyro on your website: the assistant answers from pages you list and from Golden answers, with source links. Kyros offers no live chat, ticketing, email inbox, or WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger channels. If you mainly want an AI assistant from a provider based and hosting in Germany, Kyros is worth a look; if you need a team inbox, Tidio is the better fit.
How much does Kyros cost?
The Starter plan is €0, permanently, with no credit card required. It includes one assistant with a chat widget and monthly credits. Every message uses credits, and each model shows its credits per message before you choose it. Pro and Business are priced on request. So with Kyros every message uses credits, while Tidio prices its plans and Lyro by the number of conversations.
